I am still dealing
with some problems from my crash in the Vuelta. I have some severe back pain
which got really bad when I started racing in California. The MRI found a herniated
disk in the L5 S1 vertibrae. This explains the horrible pain that I was dealing
with in Cali.
So now I am recovering and doing therapy to heal and build strong muscle to support
the problem. I am doing PT with Charlie Merril (Needling and exercises), working
with personal trainer Allison Westfahl, Chiropractor Dr. Kevin Reichlin, Dr.
Frank Jarrell, Dr. Shannon Sovndal , and Dr. Allen Lim on my recovery. Quite
a team and quite a full time job of rehab!
The doctors are positive that if I
avoid racing in March and continue building I will be okay for Tour of Georgia.
So this only affects me by missing Paris-Nice, but should set me up well for
the rest of the season!
